In another slideshow, Slimming Slideshow: 24 Ways to Lose Weight Without Dieting, WebMD throws out 24 fun tricks to help you lose weight without actually dieting. I love these little quick reference slideshows. This one has several little gems that I use every day! I really like the ones about making your dishes smaller (glasses skinny and tall, dishes smaller in diameter.) It’s interesting to me the trick your mind will play on you…making you think you’re getting more because you have a smaller bowl that’s full as opposed to a larger bowl with the same amount.
I also think it’s funny that no one missed the extra 20% that was missing from the larger dishes. The mind is probably the most important element of any weight loss program. If the brain is satisfied, the rest of your body will be, too.
Most of the newest programs out there address the use of the brain in weight loss strategies, and for good reason. Positive affirmations, NLP, setting goals, and using smaller dishes all work to help the mind overcome eating triggers that shouldn’t be there. Keep the mind happy and the rest of your body will definitely follow suit.
