Hooray for Protein – Good News for Meat Lovers

Anyone who knows me knows I love MEAT! I am a meat eater and I haven’t met many animal proteins I don’t like. And when I took the Metabolic Type Test in the DSP I tested as a Protein Type. Obviously.

But today I read this article, The Protein Prescription | Women’s Health Magazine, and got really excited. There is a shift happening in the diet world these days. A shift where eating more protein is recommended. Atkins and Southbeach started out encouraging more protein, but had slightly unbalanced plans. The updated versions of these two programs pushes more protein but doesn’t leave out the healthy carbs. A balanced diet of protein and healthy carbs has become the newest secret to success.

The Diet Solution Program stresses healthy, lean proteins. And for Protein Types more protein options are provided, which makes choosing protein options easier. The real difference between Carb vs. Protein Types is that Carb Types have a higher tolerance for carbs. That means they may be able to eat more carbs than a Protein Type without gaining weight. But the bottom line is everyone still needs a balanced amount of protein and carbs at every meal.
